“What do you want for your birthday?” can spoil the surprise. A wish list can feel like a pitch, and even close friends may know only one side of your life.
Revel keeps a gifting profile your assistant helps build, and you choose who can see each detail. When a friend’s assistant is choosing a gift, it can use what you’ve shared. If something’s missing, Revel can route a follow-up to your assistant without revealing the gift plan.
You authorize a compatible assistant to add useful gifting details from information it can access, within the contribution policy you approve.
Check and route
Revel checks sharing permissions. When an approved friend’s assistant needs a detail, Revel can route a focused question to your eligible assistant while keeping the gift plan private.
Ask when needed
Your assistant can answer from what it already knows or ask you a neutral follow-up when allowed. Revel checks what the friend’s assistant can see before returning an answer. Their assistant suggests the gift.
Example · Alex and Sam
One question changes the gift.
Alex’s assistant starts a profile
Alex’s assistant adds two details under Alex’s approved policy: Alex is getting into birdwatching and likes compact gear. Alex can review both and choose who can see them.
A friend’s assistant picks up the thread
Sam asks their assistant for a birthday gift under $100. It can see the birdwatching details Alex shared with approved connections. But does Alex already own binoculars?
One answer makes the gift more personal
Revel routes Sam’s binoculars question to Alex’s assistant without including the birthday plan. Alex’s assistant doesn’t know the answer, so it asks Alex a neutral follow-up.
Alex’s assistant
“What gear do you usually bring on your birdwatching walks?”
Alex
“I bring the compact binoculars I bought last month.”
Sam’s assistant receives the detail Alex allows it to see: Alex already owns binoculars. It suggests a pocket field guide Alex could bring on walks.
You choose who sees what. Share details with Connections or Trusted Circle, keep them Only Me, or opt in to Public sharing.

Read Revel’s profile guidance and check my existing profile and contribution policy. Use only authorized context. Start with a few specific, useful gifting details. Preserve their source and date when known, distinguish direct statements from inferences, and leave unsupported details blank. Keep raw chats and unrelated private information out of my profile.
